The Christmas Tag

You know I couldn’t paricipate in blogmas without throwing in a festive tag or two!

Blogmas Day 4

This one is all about Christmas and was super fun to respond to! Lets dive in, little elves.

As a kid, did a sibling ever receive a present that you wished was for you?

For those of you who don’t know- I’m the eldest of four little brothers, so growing up they always got “boy toys” like Tonka trucks and remote controls and legos and I was never into any of that. So luckily I never wanted what my siblings got!

Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

Honestly I think I love both things equally and for the same reasons. When you’re giving a gift, it’s such an amazing feeling to have known someone so well to have picked the perfect gift that they adore. See their face light up is such a rewarding thing!

I love receiving gifts because on the opposite end- I love seeing how well people know me and surprising me with things that I absolutely love but never knew how much I wanted.

Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?

I don’t make resolutions, but I do make a point in setting a yearly intention, asking the year to be good to me and for all the positive vibes it can bring. I trust in the universe and I think asking it to help on setting an intention is a fresh, new slate for a good year and good things to come.

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

It’s been a tradition for me and my brother to open a gift each on Christmas Eve. We each get to pick whatever gift we want, although it’s usually just something small like pyjamas or a new DVD.

Have you ever made a snowman?

Living in Canada means that we get lots of snow during the winter time and especially around Christmas time! When I was younger I used to play outside in the snow with my siblings and I’ve made my fair share of snowman: small, tall, skinny, plump.

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

In our house we opt for a faux tree. The tree that we have is pre-lit which is super handy when it comes to decorating (saving some time + $$$) and I love that we aren’t cutting down perfectly healthy trees year after year just to enjoy them for a month. I’m a mature freak.

Use one noise to describe how excited you are for Christmas

EEEEKKKKKKKKK

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?

I’m really looking forward to getting together with my family. This year we’re switching things up and having a Christmas pot luck! It’ll be interesting to see how it goes!

What is your all-time favorite holiday food/sweet treat?

I loooove Christmas bark/peppermint bark. It’s literally chocolate that was poured over crushed up candy canes, hardened, then broken up into pieces that resemble tree bark. Sooo yummy.

What is your favorite Christmas film?

I have quite a few favourite Christmas films, but if I had to chose definitely Home Alone. What can I say, my girlfriend got me hooked.

What is your favorite thing about Christmas?

I’d have to say that it’s the overall feeling of thankfulness, family, and giving. It’s a really selfless time of the year and I love it.

When do you start getting excited for Christmas?

I would say half way through November. I try to wait to go into full out Christmas mode until after Remembrance Day (for Americans, it’s like waiting until after Thanksgiving) but sometimes I can’t help it!

I hope you guys enjoyed reading my responses, and feel free to use this tag to incorporate into your posts for blogmas! As always,

  1. I like that idea with one present each on Christmas Eve.
We don’t get much snow in the South of England, so when we finally got some last Winter I got my boyfriend to come out in the garden and build a snowman with me – no children in sight – but it was still fun!

  2. Peppermint bark is the best! I’ve completely forgotten about it this year, but now I definitely need to get some haha. It’s really addicting!
I love that you guys use a faux tree for Christmas. We do also, and it seems like everyone this year is getting a real tree, so it’s not as common to hear about people using faux trees! I think real trees are pretty messy, I don’t want to bring spiders or bugs into my home lol, and I agree–it’s seems like a waste to cut down a tree just to enjoy it for a month. Ours is pre-lit as well and it makes everything easier! 😉

  3. I so agree with you about the faux over real trees. I don’t see the point of cutting down perfectly healthy trees to decorate your home. 😭 It’s the worst tradition for Christmas, in my opinion. I love that quote at the end about Christmas magic ♡ I do feel it! Hahaha.
