Blogmas Day 2
Not that I’m doubting you have any trouble getting into the holiday spirit, but if you are someone who does have some trouble feeling jolly around the holidays, then hopefully by sharing what I do to get into the spirit will help you too.
These are some of the things that I find myself doing (and really enjoying) that boosts my spirits and makes me oh so very excited for Christmas.
I’m someone who very much finds comfort and joy in the smallest things, so some of these things might not seem like much but they make me super nostalgic and full of holiday joy!
Breaking out the Decorations
Probably the most significant thing that makes me get into the holiday spirit and really makes it feel like Christmas is breaking out all the Christmas decor.
Putting up the Christmas tree is something that I usually do with my brother and I love that it’s our little tradition to decorate the tree together. We both have a special ornament that we’ve had since we were young, and things that my brother made for the tree during his early elementary school years.
Then it’s usually my job to decorate the rest of the house, I love doing it because it makes me feel so full of joy and it gets me into the spirit. We usually decorate to a playlist of Christmas music and it sets the mood for the wonderful holiday season.
Sippin’ hot cocoa
I don’t know why hot chocolate isn’t a year round thing for me? It’s so darn good. Nevertheless, around this time of year is when I go crazy for hot chocolate- maybe it’s because when I was younger I remember going outside in the snow to play and always having a cup of hot cocoa to warm me up afterwards. It makes me all nostalgic.
Get into the spirit this Christmas by upping your hot chocolate game and making yourself a hot chocolate inspired by peppermint. All I do to make the perfect peppermint hot chocolate is add a peppermint tea bag to my chocolate brew!
Christmas time= pretty lights. Everywhere.
Not only is it super aesthetically pleasing to gaze at, going to look at all the festive lighting around your neighbourhood/town is the perfect excuse for a family outing.
Bundle up, grab yourself a hot chocolate to go, and have a joyful time with your family!
I love seeing the decorations sprinkled throughout my community and the creative ways people put up their lights/outside decor.
What better to get you into the holiday spirit than a feel good Christmas flick?
To me, there’s nothing better than cuddling up in my comfy clothes with a snack, some cuddles, and a Christmas movie.
There’s so many classics that I love and enjoy watching every single season- my girlfriend has an undying love for Home Alone so that’s on pretty frequently throughout the holidays for us.
Holiday films are usually always feel good films that have happy endings that will make you feel all warm and gushy inside (as a Christmas movie should).
If you aren’t sure what Christmas movies to watch, stay tuned for an upcoming post about my favourite Christmas movies this Blogmas!
Regardless of what you’re doing this holiday season you can add an element of feel good jolly Christmas spirit with Christmas music!
The holidays honestly wouldn’t be the same without it, for as long as I can remember it’s been a staple around this time of year.
With the upbeat tempos and catchy lyrics, it’s hard not to find yourself singing along!
