Philosophy Purity Made Simple Foaming 3-in-1 Cleansing Gel for Face and Eyes | Review

Another day, another review. I was super excited about this one because to be completely honest with you guys- I’ve never tried a high-end skin care product before.

I received this product as a sample, and unfortunately the packaging got thrown away before I could take some photos- so I found these photo’s from some amazing blogs to use instead. That being said, let’s get into the review, shall we?

The packaging of the full sized product is super simple yet sleek and I love it. Sometimes products just don’t need those crazy, out there, totally wild, eye catching properties. Keep it nice and simple and it stands out amongst the crazy.

The first thing that I notice about any product that I try out for the first time is the smell and I’ve got to say that I was not a fan of the smell of this product. It smells like the bar soap that my grandmother uses, and I don’t want to smell like my grandma (as much as I love her). Thankfully, the smell doesn’t linger and after using my toner I couldn’t smell it whatsoever.

When it came time for the actual washing of my face and not the sniff test (lol) I found that this product did lather really well, and it only took a little bit of the product to cover my entire face.

As for feeling clean it didn’t live up to my current face wash from St. Ives. I have extremely oily skin, and this cleansing gel left my skin feeling a tad bit tacky.

It did remove my make-up really well, and after toning and moisturizing my skin didn’t feel as tacky. I think that personally I don’t prefer the “3-in-1” formulas, just give me a straight up face cleanser and we’ll call it a day.

Overall, like I said, this product didn’t live up to my drugstore bought cleanser and that made me a bit sad but I’m not one to write off a brand completely when they have one product that I don’t jive with, so I’d love to explore more of this brands options for skin care.

If there’s any Philosophy products that you can’t live without, let me know in the comment section below so I can give them a try!

  1. I have always wanted to try the Purity products!! I agree, the packaging really is fantastic. The simplicity of it stands out among the lot. It’s kind of a bummer to hear that it didn’t seem amazing compared to drug store cleansers, but I guess that works out for those of us with limited spending money haha. Thanks for sharing your review!
